Rosalind's Drabble Challenge

My friend and fellow Damerey writer Rosalind's Ghost created several prompts for me when she learned I was having a hard time getting people to challenge me to write drabbles (100 word shorts). So, I'm going to do them when I have the desire, and the time, in order to keep my writing brain sharp! The prompts will be the title of each drabble. Some will have mature content.

One of Rey’s favorite things was flying. Though she had little practical experience when she left Jakku, she had become quite the pilot since. She loved the focus it took. She loved the multitasking that was required. And more than anything, she loved how fast she could go. The need for speed was almost an addiction.

In fact, the only thing she was addicted to more than flying was spending time alone with the only person she knew who could outfly her. In private, her activities with Poe were slightly less dangerous than those in the cockpit, but endlessly satisfying.

Poe had designed the drones himself. Knowing his students would need experience training with formidable adversaries, he created unmanned spacecraft that used ‘lasers’ to ‘mark’ their quarry with infrared. The ‘weapons’ on his ships were electromagnetic pulses that turned off the drone.

Poe watched the awe on the faces of his class as they observed his volunteer pilot show them how it’s done. It took less than three minutes for Rey to take out the dozen drones.

While the pilots stared with mouths agape, Poe smiled, knowing he would never tire of watching his wife kick ass in the sky.

“Planet of origin?” the custom official asked.

Poe Dameron looked over at the young woman in the line next to his at the Coruscant Customs Station.

"Jakku," she said softly.

Poe knew Jakku. Not only had he studied the great battle that took place there, but he had once been briefly stuck there with a malfunctioning fighter.

People from Jakku were tough as steel.

Minutes later he found himself face to face with the Jakkuvian.

“Hi, I’m Poe.” He held out his hand.

Wary eyes met his, but then something magical happened. “Rey,” she said as she took his hand.

Rey’s breathing quickened and her heart began to beat faster. Her body felt unusually warm and she started to sweat as if she was exercising. Her breasts felt heavy and a pulsing began in her nether regions. Nothing like this had ever happened to her before.

She turned away from the sight before her quickly, before she got caught inadvertently spying on the naked man in the water.

But she couldn’t help but glance back one more time, only to find Poe Dameron, his sleek body wet and dripping, watching her in return.

He held out his hand. “Join me?”

“What the hell were you thinking, Dameron?” Leia Organa snapped. “What compelled you to do something so reckless?”

Poe’s expression was stubborn. “I knew Rey was trapped in that building so I needed to cause a distraction so she could get out!”

“How did you know she was in there?” Leia demanded. Rey’s mission had been a secret.

“I just… “ he paused, looking away. “I just knew.”

Not for the first time, Leia wondered just how sensitive Poe was in the Force.

And not for the first time, she wondered if the pilot felt more than friendship for the Jedi.

Rey’s fingertips started out light and tentative on his bare back, but they became firmer as she proceeded to map his skin. The pressure increased as she gently kneaded his tight muscles, finding pressure points that eased the agony. The warmth of her caress was like a balm to his body and soul, revitalizing and soothing.

Her touch sustained Poe just as the rain nourished the soil in the spring.

The pain in his lower back slowly dissolved as a new discomfort presented itself. Maybe this massage was the worst idea he’d had in a long while.

Or the best.

The light from the fire played with Rey’s naked body. Her smooth freckled skin glowed a warm titian and the shadows from the flame danced across her slim athletic figure. Her eyes opened and she looked down at him as he lay beneath her. A small smile appeared on her lips as she continued rocking, her movements slow and deliberate. Her internal muscles squeezed him with every gentle thrust. Her fingers teased along his chest.

She was going to kill him, Poe thought as she rode him into oblivion. At least he would die the happiest man in the galaxy.

When Rey stepped out of the ‘fresher on their fourth morning on Taanab she found Poe standing at the window, wearing nothing but boxers, staring out at the gloom. Rain had started overnight. They were supposed to go hiking today.

“Well, there goes the day.”

Poe looked at her, eyebrows high. “What are you talking about? I’ve been waiting for a day like this!”

“To do what?”

Smiling, Poe rushed back to the bed, grabbing the remote for the holoprojector. “Holomovie marathon!”

Laughing, Rey climbed into the bed with him. Never let it be said that Poe Dameron couldn’t improvise.

The tempest outside rages as violently as it does inside. While the lightning flashes and the thunder booms, the shouting and the screaming surges. The rain pours down in a torrent and the wind shrieks through the trees, the combination creating a monstrous roar. Two voices compete with the noise, clashing as one tries to outdo the other.

As the storm weakens, a door slams shut.

Silence.

Finally, a soft tap on that same door. Footsteps across the floor. The squeak of mattress springs.

“I’m sorry.”

Rey sits up and throws herself into Poe’s arms. “I’m sorry!”

The storm ceases.

“What do I get if I win?” Rey asked.

“Whatever you want,” Poe answered. “Within reason.”

“Within reason? What does that mean?”

“It means I’m not going to do anything that will drastically affect our lives.”

“That means no sex, then.”

“Wait! What?!”

“Well, that would definitely change our lives, wouldn’t it?”

Speechless, Poe just stared at her. He swallowed thickly.

“I… You…No.” He shook his head. “That shouldn’t be something won on a bet. It’s too… important.”

Rey smiled. “Well, then how about, if I win, you take me out to dinner? And we’ll let things go from there.”
